Siena College Assistant Professor of Creative Arts Scott Nelson Foster was outside his comfort zone when he was commissioned to create a portrait of St. Kateri Tekakwitha for a Schenectady, New York parish named in her honor.

A sold-out crowd of 800 guests attended Siena’s 14th annual Festa Vino on October 17 in the Marcelle Athletic Complex. The fundraiser, which will benefit Siena’s Saints Alive! Athletic Fund and the McCormick Center for the Study of the American Revolution, brought in $75,000.

Esperandieu Cenat’s determination was amongst the few things left unharmed by the devastating earthquake that ravaged Haiti back in 2010. Cenat’s dream of returning hope to Haiti became a reality after he finished his education at Siena College. He is now both the founder and director of the St. Francis Xavier Haitian Orphanage.

Every two years, Siena College devotes a year-long seminar class to studying the works of a modern, living philosopher. As part of the Symposium on Living Philosophers, the featured philosopher visits campus once each semester to deliver a public lecture and interact with the students in the course. This year’s featured thinker is Judith Butler, Ph.D.

It was picture day at Siena College, but instead of posing for a yearbook portrait, some Siena students got dressed up and smiled for their professional headshots, pictures they’ll use on Linkedin and in their job searches.

We’ve often heard dogs called “man’s best friend,” but after an accident inside, most dog owners would agree that with friends like that, who needs enemies? Luckily, marketing major Chad Bingo ’15 has come up with a “sound” solution to this messy problem.

​Energy, enthusiasm and excitement filled the Marcelle Athletic Complex Saturday night as students, parents, faculty, administrators, staff, donors and trustees celebrated Family Weekend and the launch of Living Our Tradition: The Campaign for Siena College. The $50 million comprehensive campaign is designed to help the Siena continue to grow and evolve while pursuing the goals established in its strategic plan.

​The Sarazen Student Union was a flurry of activity as Siena students shared their research with the College community during the Summer Research Sympsium.

​When people think of philosophy, many tend to think of ancient names such as Aristotle and Socrates. There are, however, many contemporary philosophers who are adding new ideas to the preexisting body of work.
