Siena's social work program is ranked in the top 20% nationally by College factual.
As a social work major, you'll develop the communication skills and understanding of social problems necessary to become a professional interviewer and community change agent. You'll be well-prepared to work with individuals, families, groups and communities to solve problems. The signature 450-hour internship program matches you to a professional supervised site based on your interests.
Internship settings include:
- Schools
- Nursing homes
- Probation offices
- Homelessness programs
- Domestic violence shelters
- Mental health facilities and programs
Siena's BSW Program has been accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) since 1985. Why is this important?
- CSWE's Commission on Accreditation (COA) is responsible for developing accreditation standards that define competent preparation and ensuring that social work programs meet these standards
- Graduate schools offer advanced standing programs to graduates of accredited BSW programs (as long as the student meets requirements set by the individual graduate school), allowing students to earn a Master's Degree in Social Work in less than 2 years
