The health studies program prepares students to take an important and meaningful role in the medical field. As a health studies major, you choose between one of three tracks: health science, health administration and health policy. An 18-credit minor is also offered.
Health Science
Health science is a pre-professional health degree program that will give you a solid foundation for a variety of healthcare and allied health careers including athletic training, public health, and more. The program is specifically designed to prepare you for the required post-graduate programs in advanced areas such as physical therapy (pt), occupational therapy (ot), physician assistantship (pa), nutrition, speech and language pathology. Coursework includes microbiology, anatomy and physiology and healthcare informatics.
Health Administration
Students in the health administration track can pursue careers in the management of healthcare facilities, wellness centers, and clinics; human resources; home care case management, and more. Courses include healthcare management, healthcare informatics, project management and public policy.
Health Policy
Students in the health policy track can prepare for careers in public policy or law-related to healthcare. They take courses like healthcare in the developed world, healthcare in the developing world, public policy and healthcare informatics.
