Computer Science

Whether you want to be a software engineer, mobile application developer, web designer, information technology specialist, data analyst or something else in this dynamic field, Siena's computer science degree makes it happen. You can customize your coursework to a specialized field through our eight tracks. You'll also get plenty of hands-on experience through our lab courses (capped at 16 students), paid internships, research opportunities, trips to national conferences and project-based courses. 

Programs offered:

Computer Science tracks (Saints are required to choose one track):

• Foundations of Computer Science track: This track features the fundamental requirements to prepare you for graduate study and a wide range of computer science careers.
• Artificial Intelligence Track: This track explores the theory and development of computer systems able to perform tasks that normally require human intelligence, such as visual perception, speech recognition, decision-making, and translation between languages.  
• Computer Science Education Track: This track must be paired with the Education Certificate. 
• Cybersecurity Track: Cybersecurity is a computing-based discipline involving technology, people, information, and processes to enable assured operations in the context of adversaries. It draws from the foundational fields of information security and information assurance and is much broader than the more narrowly focused field of computer security. 
• Entrepreneurship Track: This track prepares students for success as entrepreneurs and leaders in businesses centered on Information Systems and Software Development. 
• Game Development Track: This track explores the fundamentals and overall process of developing and implementing video games for various platforms including computers, gaming consoles, tablets and phones. 
• Information Systems Track: Students in this track will study the formal systems designed to collect, process, store, and distribute information as well as the networks of hardware and software used to collect, filter, process, create and distribute data. 
• Software Engineering Track: This track featured the systematic application of scientific and technological knowledge, methods, and experience to the design, implementation, testing, and documentation of software.
