In Fall 2021, Siena College formally entered into the reaccreditation process with the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE). Reaccreditation normally occurs every 8 years with MSCHE (previously 10 years), and Siena’s last reaccreditation visit was in March 2014. The current reaccreditation plan will culminate with a visit by the MSCHE to our campus in Spring 2024.
The reaccreditation process is a multi-year quality improvement and assurance process that examines every facet of the college’s operations and verifies that the college is in compliance with all federal and regulatory requirements. Maintaining accreditation is a requirement for Title IV Federal Financial Aid funding for students.
A cross-functional team of almost 100 Siena faculty, administrators, trustees, students, friars, and alumni is leading this effort. The team is structured with a Steering Committee and 9 Working Groups that will reach out to and involve the entire Siena Community. The team is charged with designing, directing and implementing an open, inclusive, honest and transparent self-study process that involves the entire campus community and culminates in a formal written report, campus visit and successful reaccreditation. The Steering Committee is co-led by Dr. Keith Wilhite, Associate Professor of English and Dr. Mohua Bose, Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs/Institutional Effectiveness.
