Students packed the theatre for Siena's annual Trashion Fashion Show. For the event, students created and modeled their own fashion designs that were made completely out of recycled materials. The theme of this year’s show was “Oceans of Trash.” Outfits included dresses made of plastic bags, candy wrappers and empty cans.

“I was amazed at the creativity and talent that I saw at the Trashion Fashion Show,” Trashion Fashion Judge Susan Houghtaling said. “It was very hard to choose which creation was better than the others. There were so many, that for one reason or another, I would have picked as my favorite.”

Houghtaling joined Assistant Professor of Creative Arts Scott Foster and School of Liberal Arts Assistant Dean Donna Tytko as Trashion Fashion Show judges. The event was sponsored by the Creative Arts Department, Stage III, Residential Life, and Student Events Board.

“This was my first time doing Trashion Fashion,” Emily Waterman ’12 said. “Some of my friends got involved last year and raved about it, so I decided to make an outfit as well. It was a lot more work than I thought it would be, but I met some cool people and it was fun to be part of a great show.”

Senior Amanda Filippazzo '12 was declared the winner of this year's Trashion Fashion show for her dress which was made almost entirely of can tabs.
