The leaders of the seven entities of Franciscan Friars (O.F.M.) in the Unites States, representing more than 1250 religious men, have released a letter expressing support for women religious and for the Leadership Conference of Women Religious (LCWR). This statement comes in response to an ongoing inquiry by the Vatican’s Sacred Congregation for the Doctrine of Faith concerning certain past practices of the LCWR, which represents 80% of the women religious in the United States.

Siena College President Fr. Kevin Mullen’75, O.F.M., Ph.D. said that this statement reflects the values that the Siena College community seeks to advance. “The statement is firmly rooted in Franciscan values which express a love for the Church and for all its members, respectful dialogue, justice, and reconciliation,” Mullen said.
