Siena’s commitment to the local community was celebrated recently by the Roman Catholic Diocese of Albany Catholic Schools who recognized the College with its Community Partner Award. The award is given to a community partner that demonstrates commitment to Catholic school education.
“When the Catholic School Office met to discuss the selection of this award, the conversation was quite short,” said Superintendent of Schools Michael Pizzingrillo. “Siena College, for many years, has been a partner and friend to the diocesan elementary and secondary schools.”
Siena College Vice President and Chief of Staff Fr. Ken Paulli ’82, O.F.M., Ed.D. accepted the Community Partner Award from Bishop Howard Hubbard on the College’s behalf.
“I was touched by Bishop Hubbard’s kind words and sincerity as he recognized Siena’s contributions to the Diocese and its schools in particular,” Paulli said. “Siena College remains committed to working with leaders in the Diocese and other community partners to support and strengthen all levels of Catholic education.”
This academic year, Siena College demonstrated further its dedication to Catholic education by launching the Bishop Howard J. Hubbard Scholarship in honor of the Bishop of Albany’s retirement.
Beginning this fall, a $3,000 annual scholarship will be awarded to students who gain admission to Siena College from the following high schools within the Roman Catholic Diocese of Albany: Bishop Maginn High School, Catholic Central High School, Notre Dame-Bishop Gibbons Middle and High School, Saratoga Central Catholic High School, the Academy of the Holy Names, Christian Brothers Academy and La Salle Institute.
