I grew up in Ohio, got my Ph.D. at the University of South Florida, and moved up here to take my first teaching job. In my spare time I love to fly fish for trout, and fish for bass on Saratoga Lake.

My Siena Experience
My Teaching Philosophy
My teaching philosophy is to focus on helping the students learn the basic “building blocks” of a subject, rather than overwhelming them with all the complicated bells and whistles of a subject. My belief is that If students thoroughly understand the basic concepts, they can easily incorporate the complicating factors as they arise. I also try to let them see my enthusiasm for the subject.
What I Love About Siena
I love the way that the faculty here care about teaching.
My Favorite Courses to Teach
My favorite course to teach is Personal Finance. The students find it extremely practical and useful. And it’s a Social Justice course, so we get to talk about issues like the fairness of the progressive tax system, and socially responsible investing. I really enjoy the mix of Liberal Arts and Science students in the course; it makes for interesting discussions.
