My Siena Experience
My Teaching Philosophy
I believe, at Siena, teaching is the most important element of a faculty member's responsibilities. For me teaching is also a passion. I consider myself very fortunate to have the opportunity to provide guidance to and learn from our students. Some of my greatest accomplishments take place when I have been fortunate enough to positively impact our students. My main teaching philosophy revolves around providing the students with an understanding of the information necessary for them to be successful (irrespective of how they define success). Further, I firmly believe that information without application is useless. Therefore, in all my classes I integrate experiential learning, case studies, and cumulative exams or projects.
What I Love About Siena
I have had the opportunity to attend and teach at several different academic institutions. Without a doubt, Siena is my favorite. First, I love the opportunity to really get to know my students. The small classes make it easy to know their names. However, the culture at Siena is also very conducive to building a collaborative environment. I truly appreciate the opportunity to work with my students throughout the semester.
My Favorite Courses to Teach
I’m very lucky to have the chance to teach classes in my specialty. I also appreciate the opportunity to teach introductory, intermediate and capstone courses. Teaching classes at various levels gives me the chance to have the same student in several of my courses. It is wonderful to see their skills and abilities grow and develop during their time at Siena. I honestly can’t say I have a favorite class.
