 Dr. Bachman was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and was educated at the prestigious Philadelphia Girls Academy.  She attended undergraduate courses at Temple University before graduating with distinction from the University of Virginia.  She earned the MA in Experimental Psychology at Villanova University and the PhD in Psychology at the University of Delaware, where she was honored as a "Woman of Promise" for her graduate research.

Professionally, Dr. Bachman applies the tools of social psychology--some of which she developed herself--to questions of prejudice and stereotyping, mergers and acquisitions, and romantic relationships.  All of her full-time professional employment as been at Siena 

Dr. Bachman is married and live in Ballston Spa, NY, where she also pursues her avocation as a potter.
