Br. Basil graduated from Siena College with his Bachelor’s Degree in 1984, and has spent his lifetime pursuing educational and vocational achievements. Br. Basil is the Secretary of the Board of Trustees. 

Among his higher education endeavors, Br. Basil was a tenured assistant professor at St. Bonaventure University (SBU), and the former director of the Graduate Program: Integrated Marketing Communications at SBU. Other accomplishments at SBU include Br. Basil’s role as the former director of the Francis E. Kelley Oxford Program at SBU and Trinity College (University of Oxford). 

In addition to his time at Siena, Br. Basil achieved an MA at The American University, an MTS at  Washington Theological Union (Catholic University), and higher education training in Theology and International Business: Boston College and Harvard University, respectively.

He currently serves as a Franciscan Friar of the Most Holy Name of Jesus Province, NYC in the capacity of recruitment director for the Franciscan Friars of HNP; working with the marginalized of HNP, especially at our colleges. 

In addition to Br. Basil’s role as Secretary, he has served on multiple Board committees during his time as a trustee including Academic Affairs; Student Success; Branding/Identity and Governance.

Br. Basil states that he has, “a terrific family, great friends and a wonderful network of thousands of religious brothers.”

When he is not busy with the many endeavors of service, Br. Basil enjoys hobbies such as reading, Broadway theatre, Up With People, world travel and religious life.

Prior to religious life, Br. Basil was a professional dancer (tap, swing and Spanish dancing) and traveled with the group, UP WITH PEOPLE.  During that time the group performed for the King and Queen of Spain. Br. Basil has worked with Charles M. (Sparky) Schulz, the creator of PEANUTS. His travels have taken Br. Basil to most of the world, including Istanbul which he lists as his most exciting venture.
