"There were two reasons why I chose Siena. First, one of my best friends decided to go. As new graduate from community college and only being 18, I was feeling overwhelmed about where to transfer. Second, I knew I wanted something small, not to big like a SUNY and felt like home. While attending the college fair, I meet Jen Sloan, who is a part of the admissions team at Siena College. What she said sold me- Siena has smaller class sizes and I am going feel like I am part of a community. Ever since that conversation, I knew that I was going to attend Siena and I was determined to make it happen."

" I chose Siena because of the sense of community I experienced as soon as I got on campus. It truly felt like a second home the minute I got there. Siena's commitment to service, community building, and the Franciscan tradition is what attracted me to Siena. It was impossible for me not to fall in love with Siena! "

"Siena was actually the first school that I went and saw with my parents. I can remember not wanting to go to take a tour but my mom made me, and I am forever grateful that she did. Siena was everything I was looking for in a school, it wasn’t too far from home and it was on the smaller side. The campus was beautiful and felt so safe, and everyone that I walked by that day or met seemed to be so happy to be there. I could tell there was a strong sense of community and a very welcoming atmosphere around the campus. I felt so safe, and got the impression that everyone, staff and students alike, truly looked out for each other. I went and saw other schools, but nothing compared to Siena for me after that first visit."

" I knew that Siena would feel like a home to me. It felt like exactly the kind of community I wanted to join, rather than just a place to attend school and take classes. I knew I could get a degree anywhere, but it felt like at Siena I could have mentors, make lifelong friends, and find a sense of purpose during and beyond those four years- and I definitely did."

"One of my most beloved professors, Donna McIntosh, once told my class to "get off the sidelines and make change in the world" - this is something I will never forget. I remember thinking long and hard about this and brainstorming ways to do this as a 20 year old college student."

" I was looking for a relatively small school about three hours away from home that offered both a Social Work major and study abroad program. My parents actually preferred Siena, while I was certain about Iona. However, when it came time to make the decision, I knew Siena was the place for me, because of the strong Franciscan values and the warmth of the community."

"I often get this question and I think long and hard and then the words come to mind "I didn't choose social work, social work chose me" and as corny as it reads and sounds, it's the truth. I came in as a business major ready to run a company but soon realized 'this isn't it.'"

"The professors at Siena were more than just professors, they were role model, life coaches, therapist, substitute-parents, they were everything and much more. My professors taught me so much both in and outside the classroom, they have made a lifetime impact on my life."

"Connecting people with support and resources has always been a passion for me. When looking into degrees, I found that Social Work allowed me to do exactly this and so much more. Being in the field now for 5 years, I have been able to explore different areas of my degree and push myself in directions."
