The McCormick Center Endowment underwrites the following initiatives:

  • Student engagement and a distinctive curriculum. Siena College offers undergraduate students the opportunity to pursue a specialized certificate in Revolutionary Era Studies. The endowment underwrites undergraduate research opportunities and stipends for faculty to develop new coursework for the program.
  • Support a rising star in American Revolution studies. The McCormick Center will sponsor a visiting scholar working in any number of humanities fields, including archeology, history, literature, religious studies, political science, and the fine arts. Hosting a visiting scholar will diversify the course offerings of Siena College, promote liberal arts scholarship, and gives Siena the opportunity to train a newly minted Ph.D. to teach in a liberal arts college that stresses student-faculty engagement and gives him or her a chance to experience the rewards of mentoring undergraduates.
  • Expand history education public program offerings, including lecture events and academic service learning opportunities with local historical sites. Challenge grant funds will ensure that we can continue to work with our community partners to maintain current programs and develop new programs for the community.
  • Support Digital History. A portion of the NEH Challenge Grant has been applied to purchase a new digital audiovisual workstation in order to extend digitization services to local history groups.
