Looking for a different kind of community engaged "cultural immersion" experience? Consider studying "abroad" with the College of William & Mary's National Institute of American History and Democracy. NIAHD is dedicated to the study of American History, Public History, Material Culture, and Museum Studies. Students take classes in colonial and early American history, the era of the American Revolution, the new nation, and the struggles of the Civil War. They take museum internships at Colonial Williamsburg, a living history museum within the restored Capital District of colonial Virginia. McCormick Center students who immerse themselves in the history and culture of colonial America with NIAHD will get hands-on experience working in varied areas of museum both with the public and behind the scenes.

Contact Dr. Jennifer Dorsey, Ph.D., director of Siena College's McCormick Center to learn more about the experiences of Siena students who have studied abroad with NIAHD.
